New videos introduce Scottish Woodlands' people
Managing Director Ian Robinson is the first of the leadership team at Scottish Woodlands Ltd to feature in a new series of videos introducing its Directors.
The short clips are intended to show the human face of the firm, which is so important in its approach to business. They include questions like 'What attracted you to a career in forestry?', 'What is your favourite tree?' and 'Which woodland would you advise someone to visit?'
In the video, Ian explains that he "always wanted a career in the rural environment" and that the Forestry Commission was planting close to where he grew up in Northumberland, which inspired him to take up a forestry career.
His favourite forest is Kyloe Woods in Northumberland, a very diverse woodland with more than 60 different tree species.
Ian stresses that he has always loved working with people and in terms of developing Scottish Woodlands Ltd, he wants to build on the success of the Graduate Development Programme, get more graduates into senior management positions - and increase the number of females in management roles at the company.
Ian says: "Human relationships are at the very heart of our business - relationships between our staff members, with clients, customers, suppliers and contractors."
"So it made perfect sense to create these videos to allow new contacts to find out a bit more about our people. The videos explain more about our personal backgrounds and our passion for forestry and wood. We have started with members of the senior leadership team and will be releasing the videos over the coming weeks - but we hope to create more short clips to showcase a wider group of employees."
