Primary school pupils get an insight into tree safety
Primary school children were given a fascinating insight into tree safety during an operation organised by Scottish Woodlands Ltd.
Pupils from Cortachy Primary School in Angus had a close-up view after a road was closed for the removal of unsafe trees from Airlie Estates, near Kirriemuir.

Scottish Woodlands Ltd, the forest management company for Airlie Estates, had commissioned a tree safety survey, which identified a number of trees needing work as a priority - including a large dead ash tree not far from the school.
A lorry-mounted grapple saw was used to safely remove dangerous trees, and branches.
Ethan Davies, a Bangor University forestry student on placement with Scottish Woodlands Ltd, said: "When I went to inform the school that the works were about to take place, the staff were very keen for the pupils to come and watch from a safe distance, to learn more about how we take these dangerous trees down safely."
"The road was closed off so they were able to get a great view, and were really excited and engaged by what was happening - especially the machinery our sub-contractors had on the site. They are very keen to watch any more operations that we have in the future.”
