SWL inspects another bulk vessel loading with roundwood for export to Europe

The Scottish Woodlands Ltd team in Ireland are project managing the harvesting of windblown timber which sustained damage during Storm Eowyn in January 2025.

The timber has been harvested from client properties in counties Cavan and Leitrim located in the north-west of the Republic of Ireland.

This bulk vessel marks the latest in a series of planned vessels, since harvesting operations commenced back in the summer of 2025.

Almost 3,000m3 of palletwood roundwood was loaded at Drogheda port and is bound for European markets.

Brian Malcomson, Senior Forest Manger with Scottish Woodlands Ltd, said: “From an operational point of view this remains a fast paced, sometimes challenging, but also rewarding project. We manage harvesting and haulage of timber from numerous sites at once to meet scheduled shipments of roundwood for export, while supply many domestic markets too. All the while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety and environmental protection."
