Scottish Woodlands donates 500 mixed native hardwood trees

Scottish Woodlands donated 500 mixed native hardwood trees to Wiston Lodge today to gift to children taking part in their Greener Christmas event to raise funds to help run the centre.

Wiston Lodge is a centre for disadvantaged children based near Biggar in South Lanarkshire, it is an outdoor activity centre and includes facilities for residential stays.

Jacqui Allan explained that their Greener Christmas promotes giving and the trees will allow the children to give back to nature. 1 in 4 plastic Christmas toys end up in landfill within a year of being gifted.

The trees are a mixture of Scots Pine, Silver Birch, Bird Cherry, Rowan and Alder that were supplied by Alba Trees in individual Hessian bags and gifted to the centre by Scottish Woodlands managers, Charlotte Cavey-Wilcox and Robert Lawlor.

Charlotte said, “Scottish Woodlands Ltd is delighted to support Wiston Lodge in its fundraising efforts and also to help young people develop a love of trees and the outdoors.”

The event starts on the 25th November and further details can be found on their website, here
