The UK government has committed to a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, resulting in an increasing interest and support for existing forestry and new woodland creation. Due to this our work programmes have increased significantly and therefore Scottish Woodlands is seeking to engage with enthusiastic professionals, who have a  passion for Forest Management and can offer a fresh and visionary way of thinking. These are exciting opportunities to join our progressive teams, servicing existing clients and our expanding business, and to play a key role in shaping the future of forestry in the UK.

As a key member of a high-performing team, operating in a competitive and commercial environment, you will be collaborating with stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication and organisation skills, together with the ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems. Experience of working with contractors, project management and managing health & safety are all highly desirable. A Forest Manager role within Scottish Woodlands offers fast paced, varied, and extremely rewarding work, located in beautiful Dumfriesshire, the south west of Scotland. The role will involve all aspects of woodland management and new woodland creation. You will be required to assist/prepare and manage budgets; undertake report writing; produce client reports; attend client meetings; the preparation, negotiation and submission of Forest Plans and Grant Applications and other related permissions; cost control, operational planning; as well as site supervision and safety management.

To be successful in this role, applicants must be professional, self-motivated and be capable of working on their own and as part of a team. You will have proven operational experience in a similar role where you have been involved with the management of woodland creation, estate management, delivering forest plans as well as supporting others within both the management and harvesting teams. Along with the relevant academic qualifications, you will be highly organised with excellent communication skills, be IT literate and have a sound knowledge of silviculture. These positions may also suit someone with an environmental, geography, agricultural or rural surveying background who wish to enter the forestry sector.
