SCOTTISH WOODLANDS LTD POLICY on QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH, SAFETY AND SOCIAL ISSUES Scottish Woodlands Ltd provides a range of forestry, forest and tree related services. It aims to operate a successful and expanding business, by providing a quality service for clients whilst achieving a satisfactory return for all stakeholders. It is the policy of Scottish Woodlands to conduct its activities in such a way as to ensure that due regard is given to the environmental, health and safety, and social implications of all activities in the organisation, both short and long term. It recognises that it has responsibilities and obligations to its shareholders, employees, clients, customers, contractors, suppliers, society and the environment. In implementing this policy Scottish Woodlands not only aims to comply with the requirements of the relevant legislation, but promotes measures for the protection of the environment, and the health, safety and social well being of all who may be affected directly or indirectly by its activities. Specifically: 1. Scottish Woodlands is committed to providing a quality service for its clients and customers. To achieve this we will operate in their best interests and will strive constantly to improve the quality of our products and services. 2. Scottish Woodlands is committed to sustainable forest management and the achievement of responsible standards of management. The Company supports the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and recommends to its clients that their forests be managed to the FSC principles and criteria. The company has developed and operates an FSC approved Group Scheme for clients. 3. The potential health, safety and environmental risks of the Company's activities, to employees, the public and the environment, are assessed so that effective processes are designed, and appropriate control measures can be implemented. The Company works with contractors and industry groups to continually improve safety performance across the industry. 4. Scottish Woodlands has proactive measures to prevent pollution from its activities. 5. Scottish Woodlands endeavours to provide employment for local people and procure supplies from local sources. It actively assists the development of contractors. 6. Scottish Woodlands has a commitment to improve the skills and development of the staff in the Company. It provides up to date information and training on technical and personal skills, and the skills required for the implementation of this policy statement. 7. Scottish Woodlands responsibilities to the health, safety and well being of employees and society are reflected in a specific policy towards the use of drugs and alcohol. Employees are not permitted to work, operate machinery or drive vehicles when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 8. Plans and performance are monitored and audited on a continuing basis. 9. All communications with the public and other concerned parties are true and unambiguous, with no suppression of information on environmental, health, safety and social issues.
