Scottish
Woodlands has a dedicated team of project management staff providing
consultancy services and advice to the public and private sector
on a wide range of forest management, development and environmental
subjects.
Scottish
Woodlands offers consultancy services in a range of key areas:
CARBON
SEQUESTRATION
Scottish
Woodlands is engaged in EU funded research into the role of forests
as carbon sinks. This work is being carried out in conjunction with
the Edinburgh Centre
for Carbon Management and aims to link the processes of sustainable
forest management certification and carbon verification. Scottish
Woodlands are able to advise clients and businesses on the suitability
of planting new woodlands as carbon sinks and can also advise potential
carbon purchasers on suitable carbon offset projects.
CERTIFICATION
AND CHAIN OF CUSTODY
Scottish
Woodlands was the first company in Scotland to become FSC Certified
and to run a Resource Manager forest management certification scheme.
In addition, Scottish Woodlands can also assist the processing sector
in achieving Chain of Custody certification.

POLICY
AND STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT
Scottish
Woodlands has worked with various government organisations on policy
and strategy issues in the forest industry, including forest monitoring
and auditing, industrial sector support mechanisms and training.
INDUSTRY
DEVELOPMENT
Available
wood supply in the UK is increasing which offers opportunities for
expansion in industrial processing capability. Scottish Woodlands
has completed assignments in the processing sector, on company specific
development including: raw material supply; processing and marketing
studies; certification and chain of custody; and market development
studies.
